Free run TC
We are trying to capture live video directly to hard drive using FCP. Program feed into the deck is 8 bit composite. We are using a DSR 45 deck, firewire 400 out into the G5 and firewire 800 in to the hard drive. Everything works fine except we can’t record the house sync,(set to current time) the deck seems to reset TC to 0:00:00 and the recorded clips all start with 0:00:00 TC. We can see the house sync in the capture window, though, but it will not record. Does anyone know how to set the DSR 45 so it will pass through the house sync?
This is an 11th hour question.

Perhaps you could explain exactly how you’re getting the house timecode feed into the deck and out to FCP…. that’s not the same as sync. Make sure the deck menu is set to use external timecode. It would seem to be using internal timecode. I don’t get how you’re seeing the house timecode in the FCP capture window but then not having FCP record that data, but then again I’m confused by your post. What exactly is going on and how exactly are you routing timecode signals?
