Free FCPX Effect: TKY Bezier Color Corrector V1b
Here’s a “beta” version of a new idea for a color corrector – it features a new kind of interface that I think has some possibilities and I would be very interested in any feedback you guys may have. Think of it as a bit like a Curves filter in something like Photoshop (except that instead of the usual angled profile you have a horizontal line that does the same thing. The advantage of this is that it’s possible to see all the relevant “curves” at the same time.
Note the installer uses Andreas Kiel’s essential Motion Template Tool (from spherico.com) which I can’t recommend highly enough.

The image above should be fairly self-explanatory – there are five horizontal lines each with three onscreen controls. The top one is for luminance (black, gamma, white values), the next three are for the red, green and blue channels respectively, and final one is for saturation.
The left hand OSC is for the black component of the signal, the middle one is for the gamma (or mid level), and the right one is for the white level.
In each case dragging the relevant OSC up or down will increase or decrease the relevant value. So for example dragging the top left OSC downwards will crush the blacks, dragging the bottom right control downwards will desaturate the whites (a nice look).
Note that in each case (apart from the saturation controls) you can affect the black and white profiles by dragging the control left or right.
The controls in the Inspector are very simple: there’s an on/off switch for the overlay (you’ll need to turn the effect off before output), an opacity slider to reduce the strenght of the overlay, and a switch to turn the legends (text descriptors) on and off.
I hope it’s of interest. Please note that this a still a beta and there is no reset function – if you want to start again you will need to delete and re-apply the effect.
