Sorry about the epic post. I don’t know how to say it without the story. you can skip to the end if you want.

Had a nasty crash Monday evening, 6 pm. Lost over an hour of work, checked the autosave folder: last autosave was around 1 pm.

At the time crash I was doing multiple images, 4 way split screen. When I rebooted, I noticed that autosave was still not working, so I trashed the prefs. This seemed to jog autosave back to life.

Tues, I worked a day without incident. At about 7 pm, saved the project before quitting FCP. Extra careful since the crash, I checked the projects folder to make sure it saved before I quit. The last modified date said 6 pm. (no clock errors). I went back to the project, opened and closed a folder, hit save again. FCP went through the motions of saving. Checked the project folder, the project still said

I’ve had an editor report this happened to him… I couldn’t replicate it…

Make sure permissions are all good where you’re saving
    what size is the project?
sometimes the Finder is slow to update Last Modified, give it a minute
Plenty of room on the save/autosave drive?

I just repaired permissions, we’ll see what happens. thanks.

    project is small- 8 Mb

plenty of room on autosave drive. and I went back to check the original project, and it was missing changes i had made.

mysterious problem, hard to replicate, but it’s happened to me more than once. maybe when i’m up to FCP 5.1 it’ll go away.

Repairing permissions seems to have helped. the date modified does seem to refresh faster. have to wait to see if this crops up again.

    thanks
