Hello there, I use Sony Vegas Pro 12.

Someone I know, and I have been having issues with FRAPS AVIs. They have been randomly blacking out in the video for no reason, and it seems like they just choose to go black.

The Preview goes black, as well as the rendered version. I can fix this by removing the clip and re-adding it, but I’d like to permanently fix this if possible.

If it helps, here is the information of one of the blacked out clips.

I had a similar problem when rendering earlier.
If this is the same issue you’re having(black screen in rendered footage, even though source footage looks ok) do the following:

Click the options drop down at the top in vegas.
    Click Preferences.
Under the “General” tab look for “Close media files when not the active application.”
Make sure that selection is not enabled.

Basically what the setting does is clear media file usage as soon as you deselect the Vegas window, which most people do when rendering footage.
