  • Frames off at end of project — Help!

In preparing a DV project for broadcast, I am noticing what seems to be an extra frame at the end. The project needs to be 26:46:00, but I’m seeing that the last frame (with the green corner in the lower right corner of the frame) is at 26:45:29, and there is one frame that appears to be empty after that with a bluish-purple line striped down the right side of the frame. I have tried to trim it out and expand a clip internally in the sequence by one frame, but it just moves the end slip back one frame (do it doesn’t complete the fade-out) and I still get the extra frame with the purple stripe and no content. What is this? Is this a drop-frame, and if so, how do I solve it? Is it something I need to worry about, or will the broadcaster still be happy? please advise, I have to ship the hard drive out today. Many thanks!

I’ve heard of this problem. You’re seeing the magic frame, the display with the purple band on the right in the canvas overlays. These should not export, but there seems to be weird circumstances in which it will. Try trashing your preferences, switching off the Canvas overlays in the view popup and exporting a self-contained QT movie. See if it’s still there.

    All the best,

    Tom
