I am trying to render a large project from Vegas but I’m having problems with the framerate, the video was originally recorded in 60fps (59.940 in Project Properties) and I want to render to 30fps, but whenever I do the video comes out laggy and it is annoying to watch, and the only way I can solve this problem is by rendering 60fps instead which would take me 17 hours to do, so if you could save me 9 or so hours and help with this problem I’m having I’d really appreciate it.

Rendering framerate : 29.970 (NTSC) – I have also tried 24.000 (Film) and 23.976 (IVTC Film) and they were even worse.

[Adrian Fox] “the video was originally recorded in 60fps (59.940 in Project Properties) and I want to render to 30fps, but whenever I do the video comes out laggy and it is annoying to watch”

Try right-clicking on each even and open the Properties and check Disable Resample. This will tell Vegas to create 30fps by dropping every other frame. It might help.

Already done I’m afraid, I do this with every clip I import.

What are your render settings? What format? What template? What did you change about the template (if any)?

Those are pretty standard settings. Why use a custom template? Why not use the Internet 720-30p template? Anyway… what’s laggy about it? That template should produce smooth video. It’s hard to say what might be wrong.

The only think I can say is don’t shoot 60p if you plan on delivery 30p.
