I am very new, first ever edit so please be gentle!
I have shot using two different cameras, which I thought I had set up the same, but alas they are not. I have read a few posts here on this topic but am more confused than when I started. Basically I want to make them into a multiclip…
I shot with an EX3, which I captured with the XDCAM transfer program. It is 1280×720 size, codec XDCAM EX720p, 25 fps with a square aspect ratio.
The other cam was an E7, which is at 720×576, DV PAL (PAL CCIR 601), but is anamorphic.

I guess I should convert one to the other, but which way?
And how, Compressor or FCP Batch export?
Will they end up looking the same?
Or convert both to ProsRes as some folk suggest, but which one?

Lost, sorry if I have left anything out…

I’d recommend using Compressor to go to ProRes. Make sure your frame sizes match – also, your framerates. Your edit will be much smoother that way. As to whether they’ll look the same, I think not. One camera is high-def and the other is standard-def.

Well it is much harder to upconvert the SD to HD and get good results. There are filters that help but you are looking at long render times. If you are not mastering to HD I would downconvert the HD to match the SD. Everything needs to be the same, codec, size and frame rate.
