Frame shifting on Quicktime Export using ProRes 422 23.98
Howdy folks. I’ve searched the forums and didn’t see anything addressing an issue I am having.
BG
Cutting an animated series.
Frame Size: NTSC (720 x 486 )
Pixel Aspect: NTSC CCIR 601
Framerate: 23.98 fps
Compression: ProRes 422(HQ)We are seeing to strange “off by one” sort of errors while working with this footage.
FREEZE FRAMES
* At particular frames (repeatable) if we make a still frame (Shift – N) The still that is created is the next frame not the one the indicator is on.
EXPORT
* Upon regular export frames line up but there is an apparent gamma shift on the still frames when viewed in quicktime.
* This can be remedied by selecting “recompress frames” HOWEVER this leads to clips in the sequence being shifted by one frame and throws everything out of wack.QUESTIONS:
I vaguely recall some sort of voodoo about final cut and automatic gamma correction for mac monitors or something. Is this information getting tagged somehow on the freeze frames we are making and then getting propagated down?
What the eff is up with the frame shifting. Has anyone seen this before? Any assistance you can offer would be super dupes awesome to the max extreme.
Cheers,
Josh
