frame rates in PP & AE
can someone PLEASE offer some advise on the following:
apologies in advance for all the detail of this post….i have HD 1080p mpeg video footage at 25fps which i edited in a PP sequence at 24fps, not realising what i had done until i finished the editing….DOH!
i noticed that when there is fast movement in the video i can see a stutter effect…..which is prob from the dropped frames.ive tried to copy and paste seq1 (24fps) into a new seq (25fps) in the same project, but the edited footage in the new timeline, has gaps between edits/cuts. and only in some of the sequence, not all??? (very strange)
(the seq @ 24fps definitely does not have these gaps)i read an old post about how to solve this by importing the 24fps project into a new one with the correct frame rate, but when i try this, the PP sequence still indicates, in the project window, that the sequence is at 24fps.
so my understanding is that its the sequence that determines the frame rate of the project. and you can have multiple sequences in one project, with different frame rates.
is this correct?am i missing something?

what i tried was to NEST sections of my 24fps PP project, and then import the nested parts into a new PP project at 25fps.
PP then indicated that the new sequence with the nested parts were all at 25fps….GREAT!!BUT then, to do some color correction, I imported the nested parts into an AE project. Each nested sequence is in a child comp, which all together make up the complete clip im working on in AE, and AE recognizes that the files are at 25fps.

BUT….if i go into the child nested comps, where i can see the individual parts of the sequence, (which are the same edits from my PP project) SOME of the parts do not align with the frame rate rulers…..and some do.

is this something i need to fix or worry about?
in a couple of sections of the parent comp, i am getting black video for only 1 frame, but its weird because this only happens when i play the parent composition.
the black video does not occur if i play the child comp.Can anyone offer any advise or suggestions on what may be wrong or how i can fix this?

In all the time that its going to take you to find a “quick fix” to your problem, you could have just copied the clips into a 25 fps sequence and manually adjusted all the gaps. This is the best way to ensure that there will be no framerate or audio sync issues on the final video.

thanks for your reply Jon, but the project in PP was copied over to a 25fps sequence, then that 25fps sequence was imported into AE for color correction.
i decided to nest parts, only to make it easier for me to color correct similar scenes.
im not concerned about audio sync as the project is a music clip and im not using any of the original audio.My problem is in AE. the sequences and edits dont line up with the frame rate rulers, as indicated in screen shot 2 above. and this problem is only occurring in a few instances, where i get black video or a gap.
i dont understand why the edits/parts dont line up in AE, when in PP they do.
