I’m trying to find out the best way to get two frame rates and formats to work together on the same timeline, and sometimes in multiclips, without too much trouble or quality loss. I’ve tested a couple clips already, but one way leaves the footage slightly jaggy and the other way seemed slightly over-saturated and a tiny bit blotchier than the original. What is the best way to combine these two pieces?
    My final destination is DVD.

    The two formats are:

    Apple ProRes422 – 1280×720 – 29.97fps
    and
    H.264 – 1920×1080 – 30fps

    Thanks.

    My system: Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Dual-Core Intel Xeon – 8GB DDR2 FB-DIMM – OS 10.6.3 – FCP 7.0.2

    [Kenny Powerass] “H.264 – 1920×1080 – 30fps “

That’s your problem. H264. Convert those clips to 1280×720 29.97 ProRes if you need multiclipping.
