  • Frame Rate Issues Using LG LCD TV as Secondary Display

I am trying to use a DVI to HDMI cable to connect a MacBook Pro to an LCD TV to use as a secondary display/reference monitor. I am able to view the 24p ProRes 422 footage on the TV just fine in terms of the image coming through, but when trying to play in real time, the frame rate is all screwy. Sometimes the footage looks like it’s playing below 24 fps. Other times it looks like it’s 60 fps (motion feels the same as it does at 60).

Does this sound normal? I am not concerned with getting a color accurate image at this point. This is simply for client feedback. In fact, I’m on the road right now, and the TV I’m looking to use as the display is actually in a hotel suite, lol. So if possible, I want to be able to use this setup. I can’t really get a breakout box right now.

They you should be just using a computer monitor and not a TV.

Yeah, that’s what I thought, but I was just curious to see if there was a workaround. It would have been nice to have a solid image come out of the TV, but we have a computer monitor we can use, so it’s no problem.
