Hope some can help me out with this. I’m edit a lot local car ads, and have just finished cutting my first spot in HD. For delivery, the tv station wants an MPEG2 29.97 frame rate on a data DVD. Fine. I’m cool with that. Here’s my issue though. Since I shot it in 24F on my XLH1, does that mean I should edit on a 23.98 frame rate native sequence to the shooting settings. Before my edit, I made my sequence 1920×1080 and 29.97 to accommodate the broadcast specs. And the 1440×1080 XLh1 (transcoded to prores) footage looks fine on a 1920×1080 pro res timeline. Although, when I create my MPEG2 1080 29.97, and play it back in Quicktime and VLC, there’s a major difference in frame rate from I’m just watching it back on my timeline. Like there’s a frame rate issue going on. It’s weird because the 23.98 prores footage on a 29.97 timeline looks fine on the playback monitor. Any help would be much appriciated…

    Hi Jeff,
In in Pal land, but if I’m not wrong, you should do your DVD in 23’98.
The Pulldown is added on play to reach the standard NTSC (29,98).
