frame rate; full frame to .avi; full HD capture
Hey! I am in NYC (there is no FCPUG in NY?) just across the river 😉
1) I am using a canon hv20 at 24p.
I have captured the video into FCP at ~24p
But would like to output at a different frame rate so that 120 frames is actually output as 192 frames. I have tried Joe’s filters – but it does not add any frames! Can someone help with the workflow to increase the frame rate where the actual number of frames is increased?
2) The camera supports full frame fields – but that does not seem to be what I get if I use quick time conversion to output to .avi. Is the quicktime conversion reducing the quality of my video? Will this only work for specific capture rates (say 60fps)?
3) FCP HD only seems to support ~1400×1080 capture (24 or 30 or whatever fps). Someone at Apple said this is all HDMI/firewire supports. That is nonsense right? What do I need to do to capture all the information seen by the camera?I will provide a prize for anyone who answers all the questions!

1) Final Cut Pro and Quicktime Pro will not let you create a video at that frame-rate. Your only chance is to use After Effects – and that may not even work.

3) 1440×1080 is the native resolution for HDV video.
