Not true.

AJA’s products do allow for RP188 to stay embedded when capturing as DVCPROHD( only)

AJA’s toolset also allow for direct removal of flagged frames on HDSDI capture to ANY codec supported on the card when using the correct capture settings.

That conversion plug-in is now part of FCP. Set your Kona FCP easy setup to be 59.94 Varicam DVCPROHD. After your clip is captured, click on it and then select “Tools>DVCPROHD Frame Rate Conversion….” From there you can pick the frame rate you would like to turn the clip into. Hope this helps.

Yes,

but a caveat….

The IoHD can do this all day long without issue due to the fact it can read both the LTC and the RP188 TC at the same time.

When capturing direct from the camera and trying to remove pulldown from a live stream with a Kona Card there are a couple of issues.

1) because the card in your computer needs to understand where frames are being removed, when there is NO hard in and out points set – it will need to guess when to end the clip and cease deleting the flagged frame when you hit stop.

This can cause the final few seconds of your capture to NOT have the flagged frames removed when working with Kona Cards – since the computer cannotpositively determine what to remove since there is no LTC- increase the capture length by 5-10 seconds and that should allow the computer to handle the content.

2) some people think this is a replacement for getting a deck-NO- remember that without LTC stream that can be captured from the IoHD – all of your Kona Card captured clips will start at 00:00:00 (or your default)
