October 24, 2008 at 8:56 pmI would have the picture card move more randomly, in more of an S curve type path. I would also definately have it rotate more in the xy and z axis. If I was making the settings I would have the card rotate (and you can shuffle these numbers around on any of the 3 axis) roughly
x – 550 – 0 degrees Y – 400 to 0 degrees Z – 140 – 0 degrees
have this happen over a slightly longer period of time than you presently have. Definately use motion blur and have all the values
ease in to the 0 degree settings. I think extending the effect a little
and keeping the card in screen will look better. Having the motion and rotation ease in at the end will be subtle but allow for the card to still fly out of the mans hands very rapidly and realistically. The ease in at the end is stylizing the motion, but would look better.I just finished a job with motion similar to this in it, so the numbers and look are pretty fresh in my mind.
good luck, looks like nice footage as well.

October 24, 2008 at 9:25 pmMmmm that is interesting I will try it. I was thinking also of a sore of shaking and moving down after it hits the lens Thanks

October 24, 2008 at 10:06 pmif you have it sort of “slap” onto the lens, and then slide down a little
I would eliminate the ease in at the end then.SuperNova

October 25, 2008 at 1:40 amwell, i wrote a long response to you, and my machine\internet crashed.
aarrgggghhh.anyway. I love the new motion! Im not a fan of the last motion after it hits the lens however.
Briefly, I, personally, would have the picture “stick to the lens” at roughly a 5-10 degree angle. Leaving just a slight amount of the background showing through, so the illusion of an actual card sticking to the ‘actual’ lens is there while the scene with the woman plays.
You may have to slightly crop the video, but not enough to matter in my opinion. Id also put a white relatively thin edge around the picture card, which, to me, would sell the fact that he threw a card\photo nicely. lastly I would put a slight shine on the “lens” with the card on it, when the card hits. Id fade that shine out over 60-90 frames.just my opinion, worth what you paid me for it 🙂
