Frame mode & certain decks
I have a client who cannot read a Canon XL1 tape shot in frame mode. How do I make it playable for him on his Panny deck?

I doubt that the problem is “frame mode”.
Sounds like another case of a Canon-recorded tape that won’t play in another brand deck.
Try making a FireWire transfer (dub) of the tape as it plays in the camcorder that it was recorded on, over to a new tape in the Panny deck.
