    I am trying to frame blend a 24fps movie to 59.94. After Effects says that Pixel Motion is far greater than Frame Mix, but when stepping through the frames slowly I notice that Pixel Motion causes some of the motion actually move backwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    For instance, if someone is walking left to right, every couple frames he moves backwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    HOW COULD THAT BE BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????

    < Please, the special typing effects, stop already. Sounds like your original footage has a mismatch cadence with your target footage rate. > am trying to frame blend a 24fps movie to 59.94.< This is not a a direct mathematical progressions so some additional fields must be created. How did you obtain your original 24fps source? bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

    The original footage was aquired via HD camera at 23.976 then converted to Quicktime.

    i assume you are using timewarp… and may have seen andrew kramer’s tutorial…?

    i think you are running into problems because you are trying to generate more new frames than you have actual frames. there is always going to be a posibility of misinterpolated frames that are created between to actual frames. but in your case you are trying to have interpolated frames created from other interpolated frames, and the chance of error is much greater.

    i don’t know if the mistake was yours or not… but if you will need to do this again, i would shoot at 1080i… it would be a lot easier to get 1080i to 720p60. you’ll already have 60 fields per second, so if you interpret fields correctly in interpret footage, click preserve edges and drop it into a 720p60 comp and hit fit to comp, you’ll have 720p60 in just a few seconds of work and be ready to render.
