    Hi,

In editing my shows I typically have VO on audio Track 1, nat sound and FX on audio Track 2, and stereo music on audio tracks 3,4,5&6.

I want to output this to HDCAM tape in a FOUR channel audio mix. I would like Audio track 1 9from timeline) to go to audio track 1 on tape and Audio track 2 (from timeline) to go to audio track 2 on tape and I would like audio tracks 3,4,5,6 (from timeline) to go to audio tracks 3&4 on tape.

In the world of avid there was a simple way to map audio wherever you wanted to and mix all the music tracks could just go to a stereo mix on tape.

How do I do this in FCP.

    Thanks,
    Craig

First you go into your Sequence Settings > Audio Output Tab. Set that to Four Channels and then set whether you want them to be two sets of Stereo pairs or Dual Mono. With my shows it’s a full mix on Channels 1 and 2 with a split mix on channel 3 and 4 so I leave 1/2 as a Stereo Pair and make 3/4 Dual Mono.

Then Right Click (or control+click) the audio track name (A1, A2, A3, etc..) and a drop down window will appear to allow you assign the output channel of that track.
