I’ve just installed a 1TB internal drive which I intend to use principally for media storage. I am running Media Composer 4.0 and Windows XP PRO SP3.

My new disk has been formatted as follows:

    layout: Simple

    type: Dynamic

I’ve noticed that my system drive and my old 320GB media drive are both formatted as follows:

    layout: Partition

    type: Basic

Does this make a difference and should I reformat in another fashion. If so, how?

    Thanks.

From an Explorer window, right-click on the drive and choose Format…

NTFS should work fine. Quick-format is also fine, unless you have a lot of time.
