Having a format issue from AE to FCP basically graphics from AE are being stretched out even thought both projects have the same sequence/comp setting. In AE I am working in 960×720 with a pixel aspect ratio of the same. In FCP my sequence is set to 960×720 and the pixed aspect ratio the same. However when I bring in the graphic intro form AE it gets stretched out seems like it is 1080×720. The footage I am using in FCP is from a Varicam and so I believe it is just 960×720 strecthed out. Just basically wondering if anyone understands what is going on I think I just need to set my AE project to 1080×720 but hope someone knows away around that.

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Sorry thought I probably missed a couple of details yesterday but it was end of day yesterday when I posted it so I apologize. Since I actually have a second now I may be able to explain the situation a little better.

So here are my exact settings. After Effects, Preset=DVC PRO HD 720, W=960, H=720, Pixel Aspect Ratio=HDV 1080/DVCPROHD 720.

Final Cut Pro. Frame size 960×720 HD(960×720) (16:9), Pixel Aspect Ratio= HD (960×720)
    Anamorpic 16:9 not checked.

So I was given an assignment to do a graphic end for a video already edited in FCP with those settings. I was told the settings so that is what I set my AE comp to. I was working with a JPG with text that a designer sent to me that was also in the 960×720 setting. So everything worked fine in AE but as soon as I bring it to FCP the text gets stretched out, I tried checking the anamorphic column in AE and it is still strecthed out. My solution is to work in AE in 1280×720 with the JPG resized as 1280×720 and everything seems to work fine. If you have any suggestions on what is going on or how to avoid this problem in the future that would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Aaron.

I’ve only been using AE for the last 6 months or so, and this aspect ratio thing has confused the heck out of me. My videos (all shot in 720 x 480) sometimes come out slightly stretched.

I solved this by using the Stretch option in the rendering process:

When you add your comp to the render queue, click on Output Module. Then in the window that pops up, check the Stretch check box. This area allows you to output to any aspect ratio you want. I had to output to 720 x 534 (found that number in the help file on aspect ratio) to make mine come out as intended.

I don’t know if that helps you out or not. Good luck.

    Nate
