I have 8 bit Uncompressed HD footage that needs to be converted to 8 Bit DVCProHD. Is there a workflow that has worked for anyone that I might acquire to expedite this process? I am stuck. I have Apple’s Compressor at my disposal and that’s it. I am using FCP 5.1.4

    Thank you,

    Derek

You have compressor and that is really all you need to do it. There is not really anything you can acquire to expedite the process, you just have to give tot computer time to do its thing.

You could also do the conversion in FCP by selecting File-Export-QuickTime Movie. Then instead of selecting use current settings, select the DVCPROHD format that you want.

Thank you. I have been burned by using custom settings. Do you recommend any tweeks to the custom settings exporting from FCP or Compressor?

What I meant to write was:
I have been burned when using “Preset” settings in the export process. Would you recommend any tweeks to the “preset” settings to make the conversion cleaner?

    Sorry,

    Derek

You can use the media mananger for this.

Try the ‘recompress’ function and choose the DVCPro HD format of your choice
