  • Forced Firewire DV Output?

I am sorry if I am asking this question and someone has asked it in the past, I looked but could not find another post on the subject.

I am running Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP 6) and have used DV-CAM decks in the past. I currently do not have a DV deck, but do have a DVD/HD Recorder with a DV (4pin fire wire) input connector meant for dubbing off a camera. When I connect the DVD recorder and my Mac Book Pro with a fire wire cable, FCP doesn’t recognize the connection. Is there a way that I can force FCP to output the video over fire wire, even though it might not see the DVD recorder as a deck.

I am not really looking to burn DVD’s this way, just wanted to see if I could use existing equipment to have a monitor output. Thanks!
