  • Force FCP to add “.mov” extension to captured files?

Is it possible to force FCP to add “.mov” extension to captured files? I need this because when I access the captured files form Combustion on my PC workstation I need to add “.mov” to each file and then reconnect the media from FCP and for big projects this can be a very slow process.

It’s not possible to force this directly in FCP because of course Apple want you to encourage you to stay working in Mac applications 🙂

However, there are numerous apps which do batch renaming on files so you don’t have to do it manually:

Thanks! Is there a quick way to relink the renamed media files in FCP or it should be done manually?

Unfortunately you’d have to do it manually since the filenames have changed – FCP considers a file named “MyCapture” to be different from a file named “MyCapture.mov”
