I’m looking for a way to force FCP 5.1.4 to add the file extension to every file that is exported. Our video server requires us to have the “.mov” extension (logical since it is a Windows based system and it, just like all other computers in the world use extensions to figure out what file format files are).

Anyone have any ideas? To the best of my knowledge there aren’t any settings within FCP that control this. Is there any preference files or anything that can be modified to change this?

Yes. Unfortunately it requires updating to FCP6. FCP6 now adds .mov to your exports.

Export all the videos to a folder. Have Automator watch the folder by added a folder action to it, and that action that adds the extension. Or upgrade to FCP 6. Like the guy already said.

I appreciate the suggestions but neither of the answers are suitable for my situation. Thank you though. Hopefully FCP6 is in the cards soon…
