I’m doing a project that deals with football. The client has asked for some “broadcast effects” ie, the transitions from one shot to the next. Does anybody know some tricks/how-to’s or resources that are available? Does anybody know the graphics companies that create the transitions for the NFL or broadcast sports events?

These effects are made with some professional equipments which can add such transitions in realtime. However you can imitate such effects with AE.Some certain 3Dsoftware may be required, and the plugin for AE”3D Invigorator”can work as well if you can not use 3Dsoft well. The main idea is like this:
1.add a traditional transition for you clip, for example you can and a wipe transition from left to right.
2.creat some CG elements to conceal the transition scent. For example in the effect above a “INE”can be seen between the two clips during the transition. So you can create a football with the logo on it going across the screen at the same time. The foot ball will conceal the “line” and now you could get the “broadcast effect”.By the way ,You can creat the football with 3Dsoft or “3D Invigorator” or even your Photoshop.
    Wish to be helpful.

[Dave LaRonde] “Know that most broadcast football graphics packages use a TON of 3-d animation, synced with sound effects, and designed to play back over live video through a switcher from a really beefy still store.”

With everything synced by a GPI trigger from an e-mem register from the switcher. Sounds really simple doesn’t it?
