April 17, 2015 at 1:24 amIs there a way to set the Timewarp motion effect (below) to multiple segments at once? (MC 7.0.4)
I’ve got a Seq that mixes as much as 50% interlaced footage into my progressive Timeline. (We’re working in Progressive because the output is for a file, for internet viewing.)
It’s time-consuming to have to change each segment’s parameters separately in the Motion Effects Editor. The quality improvement is very noticeable, which explains the huge render times…[Stacy Lincoln] “The Timewarp motion effect (adjusted with the Motion Effect Editor) can be used to deinterlace with the following settings:
• Type: Both Fields
• Source: Interlaced
• Check Adaptive Deinterlace Source
• Output: Progressive“

April 17, 2015 at 3:37 pmOnce you create the effect, you can drag it onto each segment needed and then render all at once. It may take a while. Other than that, I don’t know of a “batch render” option. There may be a way that I simply don’t know. I’m glad it’s helping!

May 5, 2015 at 7:06 pmHello I am running into almost the same problem with some footage that I just got that was shot on a Canon 60D 640×480 SD. I tried transcoding the footage to DV25 since it is SD I do not have the DNxHD option. I have tried other codecs when transcoding the footage but no luck it still looks like if it was interlace and my footage actually looks soft like if it was out of focus. I check my RAW mov’s and they are fine. The mov’s that I got from the camera are .mov h264’s. Does anyone know if I’m doing something wrong in the transcoding process, or should I take the clips through a converter but what should I convert these files too.
My coworker imported the same file into Final Cut 7 and his looks good so I don’t get what’s the difference between avid’s import and final cut’s import. He didn’t change anything he just imported the file and it work good. So what should I do.
Thank you.

May 5, 2015 at 10:18 pmFirst, double check your project settings and make sure it’s SD. You might want to try importing a 1 x 1 setting if there is one. I haven’t worked with SD footage for years, so I’m not certain what the choices are. Otherwise, the footage should come straight in as a .mov and be fine.
