Footage to practice editing…?
Posted by Grant Wilber on February 14, 2010 at 11:56 amI’m looking for footage (short scenes with different shots) to practice editing. Is there any sites or people out there that put stuff like this out there? I figure with so many indie movies and shorts being made it wouldn’t be so hard for someone to upload a scene with 15 shots for others to mess around with. Thanks

February 14, 2010 at 1:01 pmHi Grant,
Have a look in the COW Free Stuff Forum (https://forums.creativecow.net/freestuff).
I think that Artbeats release footage for free in a regular basis.
Have a look in their website.
Best,

February 14, 2010 at 9:30 pmYou could also offer your free editing services to budding filmmakers at a local college or tech school. Find someone who wants to make an independent film but doesn’t know how to edit and you can help each other learn. My first FCP job was editing a film for a friend who wrote, shot and directed but didn’t have the time to edit it. Helped me make the jump from Avid to FCP.
