    Hey

I have a question — well two in fact, so here goes:

    1. When I export the video from final cut I want to convert the file to AVI – what do I use and how do I do it?

    2. how do i transfer my finished edit into a dv tape — I have a dv camera — what settings do I need to do to transfer my finished edit into the mini dv tape

please let me know as this is quite urgent

    Many Thanks,

    Dan

If you shot on miniDV, your project settings should be good to go.

Before launching Final Cut, connect your camcorder to your mac via firewire. Turn the camera on to VCR/Playback/whatever your camera calls it. Launch FCP > File > Print to tape.

I have a question though. Why do people always want to export to AVI? From what I’ve read, it doesn’t support as many codecs at Quicktime and Microsoft abandoned that format a while ago.

    Hey,

so to transfer my final edit to mini DV — do I need to put the line to the beginning of the edit —-

should I put in put and out put points on the final edit — then I go to file — print to video and this box appears what should I enter —- then after I enter the info I press Ok — then what do I do — do I go to FILE – EDIT TO TAPE — will the full edit start to transfer to the mini DV Tape

The camera will be connected to the computer set on vcr mode do I need to do anything else….

in addition, for the AVI — where i live and work its quite needed — so could you help me out on that

    Cheers

You want print to tape not edit to tape. Look it up in the FCP help file. You do not need in/out points if you want your entire sequence output.

You may need to hit record on your camera if you did not select automatically record.

For AVI file, 2 ways. Export using compressor and go into your options and select avi. The other is by using Compressor. All your questions are in your help file.
