Footage on Canon EOS RP looks awful
Hello all,
Looking for some advice. Just moved on to a Canon EOS RP to do small video projects. I’ve used Panasonic GH5s previously and hated the colour science.
The footage looks awful. I shot in 1080p (IPB as there isnt another option). It’s 25fps (PAL as Im UK based), 5.6 f-stop, iso 250. Shutter speed was 1/50.
The histogram filled the darks to mids so the image was a little darker and I felt it would be fine to top the exposure up a tad in post. I also used a Tiffen black satin 3 filter. The lens is a 24-70mm and I shot at about 50mm if I remember rightly.
Three budget studio continuous Neewer LED lights were used to light the subject and natural light from a window on a day with consistent light.
Its so grainy and ugly to work with. Doesn’t look professional at all.
This is before I have even exported the video from Premiere. It’s export was into 1080p vimeo settings.
What am I missing here, I got away from the GH5 as it looked way to sharp and digital, ow I’ve got the opposite problem. What the heck am I doing wrong?
Please note, I’m a safe taught videographer.
TL;DR – footage looks bad and I don’t know why. Settings listed above.
