footage is too bright
I have footage where the person’s face is too bright. is there a way to darken it so it isn’t overexposed? Do I adjust levels or color balance or color corrector?

Well it depends just how overexposed the face is? – If it is clipped then nothing can be done. It will depend on the amount. Can you post a Still here so I can have a look.
And to answer your question about the options, yes, all of those functions I use to pull in exposure.
Lesson learnt here: Expose for the brights in digital, and the darks we can mostly play with. If anything I slightly underexpose my video work, and, if need be, boost in post.

I would start with Color Curves. Curves allow selective changes to different tones. Shadows versus highlights for example.

If the face is washed out where it’s white, your out of luck. Cant get video where there is none. Add a brightness and contrast plugin and experiment with it. Danny

And again, really need to see just how “bad” the exposure is, otherwise everybody could be wasting their time, and, most importantly the OP.
