I was wondering how I would go about making a clip be half greyscale and half in colour? I saw a video that used this effect and was wondering if I would be able to achieve this using Final cut pro?

    Thank you~!

Which half’s in color, bottom, top, left right? You can do it with two layers. Color layer on the bottom. Top layer with the desaturate filter applied. Crop the top layer however you want.

    All the best,

Thank you for the reply! That’s exactly what I was after!
I was just wondering how I would then go about cropping a layer to a custom shape? 🙂

    Cheers,
    Jess

Use the Mask Shape or Garbage Matte filters.

    All the best,
