maybe someone out there can shed some light on this problem.

we are capturing DV footage that has been shot on an HVX200. in the viewer the footage is in sync, but when it is captured (with or without advanced pulldown removal) and replayed it is out of sync. when i use capture now, it appears to be in sync while capturing, but then is not in sync once it is captured

we think that it may be due to the fact that we have a firewire setup that somehow cannot compensate for an error that occurred while recording. we have hundreds of tapes and this is the only one to have this error.

anyone have any ideas? i’m thinking that i’m going to have to create a new master and see if that works, but i wanted to check here first.

    thanks!!

Hmm… you might try setting the device setting to non controllable device and hit play on the camera to capture the whole tape. Since you say it may be a recording error and it’s only happening on one tape, there’s a chance this will work. There is also a chance that it might not be completely accurate timecode on the file if there were some dropouts… but if you can live with that it’s worth a shot.

I ran across a problem with a Panasonic deck where we captured through firewire, Using Capture Now, and let it roll to the end of the tape (where it would usually give you the “End of Tape” warning) all the clips that were captured at the end of the tape had the audio frequency set at 47.51 (find under EDIT – Item Properties). This audio slowdown had a field day with the audio sync. The only fix was to recapture with an out before the end of the shot part of the tape. This applies to batch capture and Capture Now. You have to hit escape before it goes black. I have only found this on 1 Panasonic deck using firewire. Sonys are fine. Anyone else have this problem?
