    Hi!

I shot a corporate event last weekend for dvd so i shot in SD 720×576 25fps 50i. I then converted the footage to apple prores 422 and imported it to FCP.

The problem i have is when i place it on the timeline it looks fine, but then when i play it i get a prompt asking if i would like the sequence setting to match the clip. If i say yes it seems to be crushed into 4:3 (squashed and thin) and if i say no, it warns me about loss of frames.

As far as i can see i’ve set up the sequence to match the clip. I have anamorphic ticked, is this correct?

I’m wanting it to be 16:9.

    I shot on a JVC gyhm790.

Thanks for your help in advance!

But did you shot 4×3 or 16×9?
I do not cat you. I don’t know if you shot 4×3 or if FC is misinterpreting the aspect.
If you shot 16×9, your footage needs to be checked as Anamorphic (Browser) and will fit in the 16×9 sequence.
If you shot 4×3, or you make a “pillarboxed” movie (Black at both sides), or your footage will be cropped (top and bottom) to fill the whole 16×9 frame.

You need to check the anamorphic flag for the footage as well – in the browser window. If you scroll across all the columns available there you will find one call ‘anamorphic’ which you can tick. To save time, drag the column across to the name so you can browse it easier.
