Editors at the major feature/TV level often have the luxury to be defined by their storytelling skills as they are backed up by an army of assistants who can adapt the workflow to whichever NLE is in use on a particular project. At the freelancer level, editors often need to be more specialized in a particular NLE in order to obtain gigs that state it as a requirement. Rhetoric aside that’s a practical reality.

lol. He’s right though. I think if you actually use an NLE -any NLE – and are proficient in it, then bash away. If you don’t use it, then STFU. And as to the Facebook group well, a fish rots from the head down. The post in the article was from the guy who started the group. And, not that it matters, but there’s plenty of FCP X bashing from folks who use it in there as well… 🙂

I thought bashing and trashing was meant to be done on Jerry Springer, perhaps the cable network news, not in here! Boy, was I wrong to think that. 😉

I don’t see why people need to bash away at any NLE that works, regardless of their proficiency. I personally like Premiere the best, but have seen some amazing work done in FCPX and, of course, Avid. Who cares what software is used if the results are good? Some people take critiques of the software they use way too personally.
