As a foreigner trying to learn and communicate in english, I can hear different accents like if they were different languages, your accent(NY) to me sounds kind lots of mid overtones and you tie a lot of words together when you speed up , even more when singing like some bands from NY.Here in Brazil we say british accent sounds like if they were holding a hot potato in their mouths while talking and NY accent sounds like mid overtones like duck’s sound.
I have a lot of friends in NY and after I said that, they started to pay attention and agreed with me, I changed the way they hear each others, now in their minds, they all sound like a bunch of middy ducks LOL
The easy way for you to hear that is taking a vacation far away from there, when you come back you’ll hear what I’m talking about.
That’s the beauty of learning about other cultures, you get to know more people, accept differences better turning you into a better person, differences are the best thing in life 😉

I can hear the different accents even here in the States. I travel to New England quite a bit and the Boston accent is quite different from a New York accent and just north of NY is slightly different than the Bronx or Brooklyn.

I actually talk different in my tutorials than I do naturally because I use my “presenting voice” in which I try and not be too colloquial in my pronunciations but there’s no getting away from the fact that I’m a New Yorker I guess. lol.

Yep you can hear different accents but as a foreigner, I can hear them a hundred times stronger cause I’m not used to their sounds since I was born.
It’s so good learning about other cultures, if I was rich, I’d never spend money on mansions and ferraris, I’d travel around the world and live on the coolest places for maybe a year to get to know their language, food etc.
Some people love dead things(cars, diamonds, golden etc) too much, this planet is the real master piece, there’s beauty wherever you look, even better where we haven’t destroyed YET.
Blah blah blah , sorry I’m a brazilian blabber 😉
