    Hello Creative Cow community,

I’m setting up a standard for my studio, for managing project files – and also naming Project files in premiere.

    1. File structure

I’ve attached a sample of how I would usually structure a project folder for reference.

    2. File naming

With naming projects, we used to always do something as follows:

    180919_UNAR_0489_FactoryTourVideo03

    Translated as:

    Date
(We know when this project was started, if files get corrupted and we lose the meta data, we have this)
    Client code
(Mostly for accounting, this is for example ‘Under Armour’, 4 digits in capitals unique only to this client)
    Project number
(Every time a new client is confirmed we have a project code)
    Project title
(what this project is, often clients want to shoot several videos in one shoot, we treat them all as individual projects, even if they are all billed at the same time)

I have been doing film production professionally for the last 8 years, however all self taught. I would really appreciate some advice from anyone who has great experience at this to let me know, so i can standardise; to industry.

Thank you in advance, and have a great day!
