    Hi…

I’m trying to achieve an effect of subtle fog or smoke (that would appear to be a natural part of the image) over my footage to gather from time to time – to make up the names of actors etc in my intro. I just don’t figure out how to do this… What would also look great is if a slight breeze or breath of air would blow the letters of my words back into the foggy particles after a few soconds, before it all gathered again to form the next word…

    Hope you understand my question…
And I REALLY hope someone can help. 🙂

Thanks in advance (just for reading my post)

Particular and Particle Illusion specialize in this sort of thing and I think each site has a tut on what you want:

    https://www.wondertouch.com/

I think PI has a 30 day fully functional demo.

But in AE you can do it with this (comes with a project file, but for me it’s a bit slow to render):

But for a quickie, try this, CC Ball Action (Grid Spacing 0, Ball size 100,then animate Scatter, you can also Twist the “Balls” with Rotation and the Twist properties in Ball Action. Follow Ball Action with CC Scatterize (optional), animate the Scatter, again you can twist the particles. Then last effect is Fast Blur (or Vector Blur, Directional), animate to get your smoke, then to 0 when you want sharp letters. You might have to fade in another copy of the text (on top) when you want the letters sharp, as Ball Action doesn’t make for as clean letters.
