fog tutorial?
Could some kind soul point me to a 3d good fog tutorial?
Been using AE since version 5, and now that I’m in ae7pro, I’ve still yet to figure out how 3d fog works.
I know I’m supposed to get a z depth figure, to plug into the fog effects–but no matter how far “in” or “out” I move my 3d layer, I still can’t seem to get a valid z-depth reading, when I click on it. I even get a prompt: “no depth available.”

The 3d Fog effect only works with specific file types, such as .rpf and .rla among others. See this, from a previous Creative Cow forum post:
