  • Fog problem – Mist on horizon disturbs background image.

Posted by Per Sverre wold-hansen on May 9, 2013 at 12:05 pm

See image enclosed. Open sea landscape. Floor is ocean.

Made a huge diameter, low vertical, open cylinder. No caps. Added a transparency with vertical gradient (and a white color) to function as distant fog/mist.

However, strange things happen to the background image. The color of the sky background is “disturbed”. The top end of the cylinder is – sort of – visible…

Same thing happens when applying a “fog texture” to the cylinder.

    What gives?

Sorry – Not fog, but “Alpha”

    Per Sverre Wold-Hansen,

Maybe have a look at using the Fog shader .

    Here’s an example file :

Thanks for the effort, but I do not get what I want THAT way either…
When the torus is expanded to “horizon” and adjusted for heighth the same problem occurs.

Here are a couple of examples – fixed in Photoshop – which show more-or-less what I hope to achieve in animations in C4D…

    Other ideas?
