Focus Repair EX1R
The problem is that when I zoom in, focus and zoom out, the picture goes just slightly out of focus. I’ve tried the “hidden menu” for fixing the “flange back adjust”. It is closer, but it is not perfect. I did it several times, too. The version number on the camera is 1.20.
Has anyone else had this experience of the “flange back adjust” not working as well as it should, and would sending the camera to a Sony (or other) repair facility fix it? Out of warranty so replacement isn’t an option.

Yeah i did have some backfocus problems. Hidden menu did work, but it went wrong again very soon again. Sony France fixed it for me (a week before warranty ran out). I believe my version is also 1.2.

Try this,,,,,push the lens ring forward out of manual focus. Make sure on the side of the lens auto focus is NOT selected. Zoom in, focus and zoom out.
I don’t know why but it will be tack sharp opposed to the lens ring pulled back in manual focus mode.
