    Hi all,
I’m experiencing a weird focal plane noise in AE CS4. I’m moving the camera across a jpg file newspaper headline,(high res, perfectly good file)The file is at an angle and the camera is using narrow depth of field to isolate a line of the headline in focus, but as the camera moves over the plane and the focus adjusts, I get weird, noisy grain between focus points. *See attached File. This is for a feature doc, so it will be projected.
No matter what I do to the camera/focus settings, it doesn’t go away unless I turn off depth of field.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks much
    Michael

The attachment did not make it.
You can try to use an adjustment layer with a animated feathered mask and a Camera Blur to replicate the effect without using DOF in the camera.

I know, I had a hard time getting the image to upload.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try!
