Is it possible to use foam with an animated flow map? I can’t seem to get it to work at all.

I am doing an animation of a geologic ‘plate’ being subducted under a continent. I’m doing a composite of 3D elements and 2D lava/magma done in AE. I got a nice effect using foam + vector blur to generate my lava and get it to swirl around and over the subducting plate *but* the plate is animated – it moves through the lava – and I can’t find a way to get foam to notice the flow map’s animation.

Am I missing something basic? If foam won’t work for this, is there another method that presents itself?

There’s a picture of the kind of thing I’m talking about here:

As the lower plate pushes through the lava, I’d like the lava to appear to flow around it. Everything *except* the lava is done in 3D, then imported to AE as an image sequence.

    AF Help:

    Flow Map
Specifies the layer used to control the direction and speed of the bubbles. Use a still image layer; if you select a movie as the flow map layer, only the first frame is used.
