    Hello,

We currently use Bogen 501 heads on our tripods. However, after renting an expensive Sachtler legs & head, I am wanting to upgrade our heads. I realize that in general terms, the more you spend, the better the product. What I am looking for is the best balance between a $2500 head and something better than the 501? Does anyone have any experience with the 516 or 519 from Bogen? Is the difference really worth it. The largest camera I have now is the Sony DSR-250 (full size DVCam). And will likely be adding nothing larger than Panasonic’s HVX200.

    Thanks for any input,
    Mike

Gitzo 1380 fluide head with 1325V carbon legs. Completely outclasses anything else I’ve used. Not to say I’ve any experience with the $2500 heads you mention.

I’ve read that the Bogen 503 is okay as an entry level fluid head, but I’ve never tried it.
