    Hi all,
I posted an earlier question about converting FCP projects for use on the web. One response that interests me is flip4mac.
My mac is not connected to the internet but my PC is….can I download the software to my PC & then move it over to my mac via CD or USB drive?
I have an e-mail into the company but I don’t know how long they will take to answer.
    Thanks in advance,
    Andrew

P.S. Thanks to everyone who responded to my earlier post, this is a great forum.

Yep. That’s what I did. They explain in the directions how to authorize through another computer.

Don’t know how your using it but if you use it with Squeeze, make sure you install the right version of filp4mac. Squeeze has bugs with the latest version.

Use Flip4Mac version 2.0.1 in everything but Squeeze which needs 1.0.6. If you get 2.0.1 you can get 1.0.6 also. You usually need to authorize Flip4Mac via the Internet (what I did) but if you contact them they’ll help you do it on a none Internet connected Mac.

Hmm, Andrew, isn’t actually SAFER to have your Mac connected to the Interent?

This is a day late and dollar short, but we have noticed (what we consider)
extremely slow rendering of wmv files with Flip4Mac and we’re
running the G5 Quad’s with 4.5 GB RAM. It appears that this program only
    takes advantage of one processor.

Our render times are usually twice the time of the
total running time of the timeline i.e 10 minute video = 20+ minute render (approx.)

Does anyone know how to juice this app?!!

If you’ve updated to 2.0.x. go to Advanced and use the “Complexity” setting which goes from “Offline Slow” (slowest) to “Live Fast” which is fastest rendering. I’ve heard they’re going to really speed up the rendering in the next Exporter update. Also using Flip4Mac in Compressor will probably be faster than using it directly in FCP.
