So I purchased the full HD all-inclusive version of Flip4Mac, and am trying to compress a bit of video for a client so that they might use it in a PowerPoint presentation on a PC.

I have tried many different compression schemes and when I try to play the video on my office PC with Media player, the video is all blue, like you were looking at the blue only on a pro monitor.

I’m not sure what else to try, or if i had something out of place. The video was cut with Final cut, and I right clicked the sequence and chose “Use QT Conversion”. Then I chose “Windows Media”, which brings up the “Flip4Mac WMV Export settings” box. I chose WMV 9 Standard” and a whole variety of quality and bit rates, all of which played on the Mac, and on the PC using VLC Media player, but not where I need it to play which ultimately is either Windows Media Player or PowerPoint.

The PC is a brand new Dell running lots of horsepower and a business XP Operating system, with the newest Media Player just downloaded. I transferred the video to a USB stick, turned around and plugged it into my PC, which played blue video in WM, and normal video with VLC.

    What am i missing here?

If it matters the video originated as EX 720P 60, was edited in a native timeline, and exported as described above. I have a quad core MacPro with 6 GB of Ram running Mac OS 10.5.7 and Final Cut v 6.0.5.

    Thanks,

    Semi

Is every item in your sequence rendered? Search this forum for details and importance of that aspect before exporting via F4M. I can’t guarantee this is your problem, but worth a shot.

Also, what format is your material and what are your sequence settings?

Thanks Stace. As i said the material was Native Sony EX 720P 60 edited in a native timeline.

Nothing to render- it is all native and video only- no graphics, fonts, or overlays.

And, it will play fine on the same PC with VLC media player, which i uninstalled thinking that in some way was corrupting the file’s ability to play properly in Media Player.

Hi Robert – apologies for not reading more closely!

I had a similar problem a few years ago, apparently prompted by a QuickTime update. The fix was DL’ing the latest version of F4M, but I don’t know that this was your problem… I’d make sure you have the latest versions of both. Do let us know if you discover the cause/cure.

Thanks for keeping up with this Stace, considering this post has moved so far down the line!

I just downloaded the latest version of F4M the other day, so that might not be it.

Delivery for this small project is today, so i asked the client to bring his Windows laptop, which I will load the project on directly. There is a chance it will work on his machine and if so, then my PC or something on it is the culprit.

Very frustrating this, so i will post if I find the answer.

OK, it looks like it is some incompatibility issue with my new PC. I tried viewing the file on 2 other PC’s and it worked fine. Thanks for reading and posting suggestions.

    Appreciative as always,
