    Hello,
I have rolling credits at the end of my movie that I built and animated with a scroll function in Motion. The credits are in Bank Gothic font, and once in Final Cut Pro, as they scroll up they show an irritating flickering. I’ve tried the de-interlace and flicker functions to no avail, and now I’m wondering if I can change the blend mode of the font (to Subtract, Darken, other?) to solve this problem.
Any suggestions on how to defeat the flicker? Many thanks,
    Chris G.

There are a few things you can try. Any of them could help.

Change the font or the font weight or size.

Change the speed of the scroll.

Reduce the white in the text a bit.

Add vertical blur or gaussian blur.

    Deinterlace.

    Hope this helps…

    Chris,

You get an A+ for remembering to list every single one of the things that needs to checked-off when creating a title roll.

Lets hope that someday the engineers at Apple might read your list and use it to make a one button title roll feature that actually works. Since 99.9 percent of all title rolls are white titles over a black BG, one would think this would be an easy app to create.
