March 11, 2009 at 10:10 pmTo match what scene AO does put AO in the Diffusion channel (but you can put it anywhere for different effects).
I would put it on objects that need it (the racks etc), try the scene without any AO at all since it’s real reason for existence is to fake GI – that’s not to say that they don’t go well together at times but sometimes both together can be a problem (and I’m not sure that’s what your problem is, it’s just a guess) -

February 20, 2012 at 9:52 pmSo I am having a similar issue, but all of the things suggested here aren’t working, can anyone take a look at my file to decipher what I am doing wrong?

February 20, 2012 at 10:06 pmHi Elias –
Took a look at your scene. Looks like your main light source is an area light. In my experience, area lights always produce flicker in animations. Maybe it’s just me, but I tend to stay away from them for animations. I would suggest using a omni light, with falloff set to inverse square, and some soft shadow maps. Then turn on ambient occlusion, and you should have a fairly similar look. You can adjust the falloff of the light, the ao settings, and the shadow settings to get a similar look. That should take care of your flicker. No real need for GI in the scene. Just some nice lighting and you should be good to go.

February 21, 2012 at 2:51 pmI am planning to add dust when the words hit, would you suggest I do it in C4D or After Effects?

February 21, 2012 at 3:14 pmIt is still flickering. I am going to start over and create a new material to see what happens.

February 21, 2012 at 5:13 pmHi Elias –
I would suggest adding the dust in AE. It will be much easier to create plus easier to adjust/less render time then tryin to do it in C4D. Can you upload a QuickTime of the flicker you are still seeing?
