October 9, 2008 at 1:50 pmIn that situation, I personally “Render to a New Track” (under Tools). This is obviously valuable for those of us who are using Movie Studio, and limited to only 4 video tracks. But I would be interested in hearing others’ approaches, as well.

October 9, 2008 at 2:16 pm“flattening” or rendering video is something to be avoided when possible, but as mentioned previously, Render to New Track is the appropriate method. Unless you’ve run out of tracks, I’d avoid it.

October 9, 2008 at 3:23 pmAn alternative for RENDER TO NEW TRACK which does not require rendering is nesting the project into a new project. This will also give you the flattened phenotype.

October 9, 2008 at 4:24 pmunfortunately, VMS doesn’t have nesting. That’s a Pro feature only.

October 10, 2008 at 7:36 amRender to new track is similar to render to DV-avi in terms of render-time. First you invest time to render part of your project and you gain time when you do the final render of your project.
Nesting means that you import your projectfile into another project. Thus save and close your project, open a new project and drag your first projectfile from the explorer (or from windows explorer) onto the timeline of the new project. You will obtain one videotrack and one audio track, which contains the whole project. It does not involve rendering, so it is very fast. However, you will still need time for rendering during the final rendering of your project.Theo

October 10, 2008 at 10:20 amAnothe advantage of nesting is that you can still adjust or change your original project and the new project with the nested file will be updated automatically.
