I’ve done the simple-flat line-animation thing over the years with so many different tools:

3d Stroke, Particular, Echo filter, Invig and just had a read up on Layer tools from Zaxwerks.

It still seems there is still no simple way to create flat, rendered, shadow casting lines / ribbons in AE that move and bend around objects. I know the basic principle of AE’s 2d / 3d space is the reason but I thought I’d see what the thoughts out there are.

Is it simply “go into a 3d program” ? What are the preferred methods.

[The echo filter method is probably the closest but never gives great results and takes too long to render.]

Did you search the COW for “ribbon”?
