Ok, apologies if this has already been covered (I did a lot of searching but couldn’t find the right answer), I also wanted to do it in FCP, and I’ve worked out ways to do it fairly basically, but AE might be a much better option.

I’d basically light to use a simple effect where there is 2 layers of the same clip, the background one flickering in time with the music (probably using opacity) and the top layer is a roaming vignetted spotlight effect, like someone shining a flashlight over it (the same clip as the layer underneath)…

Can anyone suggest the best way to do these? Preferably a way to automate the flickering… does AE have sound reactive settings? Also I know Lux does a similar effect to the flashlight right?

    Thanks a lot.

There’s information on this page about using audio to drive animations.
